Dinner 2050
The House of Sustainability at COP28, Dubai. 2023
Dinner 2050 was an Tellart immersive multisensory experience;
an AI-assisted visual game that makes climate action real on a plate. Visitors put in their favourite meal, an 2050 adaptation of this meal is presented to them in a visual way.
I was involved in the early stage of this project, creating the initial creative proposal and design the experience up to the schematic design phase.
Lamb is swapped for grasshoppers, broccoli for algae, and beef for lab-grown meat.
Standing around a table guests speak their favourite meal into a microphone. A custom AI model identifies the top ingredients in their meal, selects which ingredients have the highest carbon footprint, chooses sustainable alternatives (based on U.N. data), then generates a future version of this dish with an informative description. Guests learn how their meal can impact water and energy use, carbon emissions and biodiversity, and improve their nutrition.
Creative process
The spark for this project was an experiment I carried out, AI visualizer plug-in. When models like Mid-journey were released I was playing with how these can be incorporated in a natural, meaningful and playful way.
This inspired the Dinner 2050 project, what if we allow visitors to live generate personalized content they are interacting with.
A few paper prototypes and sketches to think through the experience. Both from an individual visitor perspective as a group perspective to ensure a moment of discussion and reflection is created.
